The CHASE has begun

28th February 2010

For doctor-businessman Anuuj, a Doordarshan show called Aasman Se Aagey catapulted him into a career in television. This is when he realised how much he enjoyed being in front of the camera. Anuj went on to do several serials including, Kora Kaagaz, Kumkum and Saara Aakash. But it was the Balaji Telefilms' serial Kkusum that made Anuj, aka Abhay of the show, a household name.

And as the wheel turns for most TV stars, there came a point of saturation and eager to avoid complacency, Anuj quit the show to try his luck on the big screen. He also set up his own production house, Maverick Productions. The actor is now ready to debut, under his own banner, in a film called CHASE, co-starring Udita Goswami.

In contrast to his 'usual image' in family dramas, the film is a thriller. He says he wanted to try something new, "CHASE is an interesting subject. I liked the story very much so we made a film on it. It's a film by renowned director Jagmohan Mundhra."

So with his sights set on Bollywood, will he go missing from the small screen? "I don't have the time to do a daily soap. I have to manage my Pharma business, production house, restaurant Blue Waters and Bollywood career simultaneously. As far as TV is concerned, I am open to anchoring or a chat show," replies the multifaceted actor. CHASE, earlier titled Begunaah, is set to release shortly. Here's looking at you, Anuj.
