The Miss Mumbai Fashion and Beauty pageant has been a much awaited event amongst the young and beautiful in Mumbai, for over nine years. 'Fair One' from the house of Elder, has signed an agreement to host the pageant for the next three years beginning 2009. 'Fair One Miss Mumbai 2009' entries for which open today, will be presented by Gitanjali, in association with Chronotech, with a grand finale on November 1, 2009 at Palms Villas and Towers, Mumbai. The 10th 'Fair One Miss Mumbai 2009' queen stands to win a cache of gifts from a host of sponsors, besides a cash prize.
If Mumbai is the City of Dreams, then the Miss Mumbai, will truly represent the dreams of its millions of inhabitants. Since 1993, when the Miss Mumbai pageant was conceptualized by Deepak Chopra, who is now the Special Projects Director with Maverick Productions, the event has been the first of its kind city centric beauty pageant with the aim of promoting and training young talent and helping them achieve their dreams of attaining success in the field of modelling and cinema.
Dr. Anuuj, MD, Elder Health Care Ltd., marketers of Fair One (Formulated by Shahnaz Husain) said, "Mumbai has been the Mecca of the beauty and fashion scene in India, home to many of India's bold and beautiful of different backgrounds. Fair One is proud to provide a unique platform for deserving talent in the city who are otherwise unable to realize their dreams only due to lack of adequate opportunities and guidance.
We are commencing this search with Mumbai, to be followed by 'Miss Pune', 'Miss Kolkata' and 'Miss Delhi' over the period of Nov 09 - Feb 2010. The pageants across all the four cities will provide a debut for some of India's best combination of beauty and brains. We are currently in the process of putting in place the logistics to take the initiative to a higher national platform and will make an announcement soon."
In the past, the Miss Mumbai beauty pageant has brought together the cr?me de la cr?me of the city's swish set like Salman Khan, Hemant Trivedi, Rocky S, Shobha De, Manish Malhotra, Sohail Khan. This year too, the panel of judges will comprise of an eminent group of celebrities and fashionistas. The names of these personalities, who will make or break the fate of the contestants, will be disclosed soon.
The entries are open to all aspiring young female Mumbai residents aged between 16 and 22 years, forms to be completed and received by Maverick Productions, the producers and promoters of the event, before October 12, 2009. The grand finale will be preceded by a 10-day grooming session of the contestants and sub-events on October 27th, 2009:

Some of the notable past winners of the title have gone on to achieve great success as models and actors, like Nisha Harale Bedi (Successful Model & Artist), Shivangi Parikh who won the Miss India crown (Asia-Pacific), Shweta Salve contested in 1996, who has made it big on the small screen and Pooja Shah a successful model and currently a pilot with an international airline.
Professional experts in fields of fitness, beauty, personality development, ramp walk, and diets will groom the 16 finalists who will be short-listed from all the entries received. "Organizing the contest is one part, grooming the contestants on the whole is another. We have roped in top professionals who will ensure that all the contestants are groomed to perfection and take home learning's that will take them on to new heights of achievement", Deepak Chopra said.
